Wildbirds.net is a website we created in 1996 as an on line catalog for our terra cotta wild bird feeders and houses.|
At that point in time we were refining our mold making skills and the studio was a spare room. We fired the kilns in the basement.
But that was not the beginning.
We started making stoneware and porcelain wind chimes more than 30 years ago, selling them at local crafts fairs for extra money.
Our first design was the autumn leaf chime design we sell today.
The leaf design is attached to most of our terra cotta items.
When our business expanded beyond the spare room we leased production and office space in a local industrial park.
We finally had plenty of room to expand and our operation and we took on some employees to boost production.
Everything was going fine until the building burnt down. ( not our fault )
Thank goodness Phyllis had the good judgement to invest in insurance.
Instead to renting space we decided regroup and we made the move from Black River NY to Theresa NY where less expensive municipal power was available. We use a fair amount of electricity and this seemed like a good move.|
We found a house with a little land and we built a 30' by 45' 2 story building to house the studio.
The weather here makes a perfect testing area for our out door products. Our summers are warm with the occasional hot spell and our
winters are cold with the temperatures sometimes plunging to minus 30°F. and lower.
As a family owned and operated business and we pride ourselves on our ability to give personal attention to every customer.
We welcome visitors to our studio and gardens, especially in the spring when we open the green house. Please feel free to call or stop by anytime.
Thank for looking,
Phyllis and Tom Roberts
