The tear drop house was inspired by the bird house gourds.
We liked the shape but wanted something more durable, and we got that with the terra cotta.
This paticular house is well suited for all types of small wrens, finches, chickadees, and swallows and other small cavity nesting birds.
When we first tested this house we placed several of them around the yard at different heights and settings.
It was fun to watch the couples going from house to house looking for just the right one.
To us they looked the same but the birds wanted to be sure.
These are so popular that many times we do not get a chance to clean them out before a new family takes over.
We have actually seen them clean the previous nest out and rebuild a new one, all in the span of a day or two!
